SSIM 2025 Presenter Tips and Guidelines
Please take the time to read through this material as it contains important information on how to prepare and provide the ACG with your presentation.

A PowerPoint master template is not available for ACG events. The SSIM 2025 logo can be downloaded from www.acgsurfacemining.com/marketing.
Please note the following:
- Please use standard Microsoft fonts as we cannot guarantee that the AV laptop will support non-standard fonts, and thus display issues could occur.
- The projectors at the conference will be set to an aspect ratio of 16:9, so please set your presentation up in PowerPoint to this aspect ratio.
- Slides that are densely packed with text are hard to follow and are thus best avoided.
- Colours employed for either text or background should be bold, sharp and aesthetically pleasing. Please note that some attendees may have colour blindness.
- Your presentation should not simply be a rehash of your paper.
Presenters who refrain from talking about the event topics and instead promote their own services (however subtly) do more harm than good. Speakers who put forth independent presentations and opinions impress delegates. The time for networking is off the podium.
Please provide your presentation in PowerPoint format. PDF versions will not be accepted as they will not display correctly on the projectors.
If your presentation contains audio or video, please submit it to the ACG via ProMPT by 20 October 2025 so we can test it.
Please have your presentation with you on a USB stick at SSIM 2025 to provide to the audiovisual staff on the day of your presentation. Please DO NOT submit your presentation via ProMPT or email at the event as these systems will not be monitored by the audiovisual staff. Please liaise directly with the audiovisual staff at the venue.
Please note all presentations must be delivered from the ACG’s laptops.
Please view the conference program to check your scheduled presentation time and which room you are presenting in.
It is imperative that your presentation is complete and downloaded prior to your session. Please give your USB stick to the AV person in the room you are presenting in no later than 15 minutes before your session – preferably during the break before your session. Morning plenary session presenters are to provide the AV person with their presentation at the presenter/session chair meetings (refer to the section below).
Please note that presenters from Day 2, Sessions 2A, 2B, and 4 must go to the registration desk to submit their presentations as the ballrooms will be closed during the breaks before these sessions.
Please do not try to provide the AV person with your presentation just before a session is due to start or as your presentation is due to start. This will cause delays in the program.
Again, please do not submit your presentation via ProMPT or email at the event.
If you are not able to use USB sticks, please email your presentation to candice.mclennan@uwa.edu.au. If your presentation is too large to email, please use a file transfer service such as WeTransfer.
We ask that presenters please meet their session chairs in Ballroom B & C on the day of their presentation at the following times:
- Day one: 8:00 am.
- Day two: 8:30 am.
- Day three: 8:30 am.
Morning plenary session presenters are to please provide the AV person with their presentation at this time.
Please refer to the conference program.
Regular presentation slots are 20 minutes long, while keynote/invited speaker presentation slots are 45 minutes long. You will not be allowed to run over time as this throws the whole timing of the event out of sync.
To keep the program on schedule, the audiovisual team will issue one beep to sound five minutes before the scheduled end time of your presentation, and two beeps to sound two minutes before the scheduled end time. At the first beep, the Chair will ask you to wrap up your presentation to allow time for questions from the delegates. If, at the second beep, you have not yet concluded, the Chair will ask you to finish your presentation. At the end of the two minutes, the presenter microphone will be turned off and there will be no time for questions.
If you have any queries prior to the event, please contact the ACG at publications-acg@uwa.edu.au
If you have any queries at the event, please see the AV person in the room you are scheduled to present in.
