Martyn has 36 years’ experience in engineering geology, mine slope design and operations. He began work as a mine geologist in South Africa in 1985, before embarking on a global mine geotechnical consulting career with various consultants. In 2001 Martyn joined Rio Tinto, where he has been involved with all of its surface mining operations. He has held a range of technical leadership roles including four years as technical manager at Bingham Canyon mine.
